Information
At the IFMA trade fair in Cologne in 1980, the Honda CX500 debuted, the world's first series-produced turbocharged motorcycle. The liquid-cooled V-twin engine was equipped with a turbo unit developed in collaboration with IHI (Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries). Combined with Honda's computer-controlled fuel injection, the 500cc engine delivered an impressive 82 horsepower. Other technical innovations included a fairing shaped through extensive wind tunnel testing, Honda's unique Pro-Link rear suspension, and a four-stage adjustable "anti-nosedive" front fork. With its progressive design and exceptional power, the CX500 was one of the most significant motorcycles ever produced.
